Creating a secure environment for more than 220,000 people—every day
Assuming responsibility for security at Stockholm Central Station is one of Sweden’s toughest security assignments, and represents a daily challenge for Jernhusen and Addici Security.
The Central Station is located in a vulnerable and tough area, which simultaneously has some of the highest visitor numbers in the Nordics. A huge number of people pass through the station every day and we have zero tolerance of unsafe environments, which places high demands on our security guards,” explains Jernhusen’s Markus Sedenberg, Head of Security and Stockholm Central Station and Cityterminalen.
An average of 222,000 people will pass through the Central Station on any given day, which amounts to a staggering 81 million visitors over a year. Assuming responsibility for law & order and security in this environment is a large and important assignment for Jernhusen and Addici Security, who have collaborated to deliver security guards since 2001. The successful partnership is based on understanding and trust, as well as a shared vision and long-term work.
“They fully understand our often complex assignment. This allows us to adopt a long-term perspective and means that Addici’s staff feel comfortable as part of our operations. Although this is one of the reasons for our successful delivery, I also want to praise the security guards who tirelessly carry out this challenging work in long shifts at the station,” Markus explains.
Addici Security’s delivery of security guards consists of carefully selected individuals with at least five years’ experience of the sector, and with a good fit in terms of personality. Markus isn’t looking for the cheapest solution, rather a cost-effective solution where staff can handle everything from drug addicts to cases of acute illness and fire safety—and this is what he gets from Coor.
“The work requires stamina. Staff operate in a challenging environment and the work can be quite draining from time to time, but I’m incredibly satisfied, impressed and proud of our security guards,” Markus concludes.
