AI - Mindfulness for everyone

With AI technology backed by neuroscience, the German sound company Endel is transforming the workplaces of the future.

Sound is constantly present around us in everything from natural forms such as wind to constructed in the form of music. Some sounds we barely register, but it is well established that different sounds have different effects on our brain. Some soundscapes can reduce our stress, while others can increase our productivity.

This was something that the German tech company Endel decided to explore further. That was when Endel Pacific was born, a software that uses AI technology and individual data to create a personal soundscape for each user – adapted to heart rate, amount of light, time of day and weather.

"We want to make AI-driven mindfulness easily accessible to everyone. Through our software, personalized soundscapes are created to improve sleep, reduce stress, and improve productivity, all backed by neuroscience. We start from how the brain reacts to different types of sound," says the company's founder and CEO, Oleg Stavitsky.

How the right soundscape can increase well-being and productivity is something that Endel focuses a lot on as the company continues to develop its AI technology. Oleg Stavitsky points out that they are not only targeting private individuals, but that they are also shaping the service to make it attractive to employers – where Endel tailors its offer to customer preferences and opportunities. For some, soundscapes are needed that strengthen analytical and focused work, while others may need support in facilitating creative work. Either way, the goal of the service is to enable employees to focus and increase their efficiency in the workplace.

"What we do is more thorough and deeper than anything previously done in the field, especially in terms of how the right sound can affect your cognitive state when it comes to concentration," says Oleg Stavitsky.

Some believe that the position is the next step in the evolution of the workplace.

"After the pandemic, we look at the workplace with new eyes. No matter where we work, we will need the right workplace to be creative and focused. The personal soundscapes are there to create these individual environments and protective bubbles, which help us to be relaxed and productive – wherever we are.
